Rider Education Terms and Conditions and Cancellation Policy

Terms & Conditions

Welcome. Thank you for choosing Laconia Harley-Davidson’s Rider Education. We are confident that you will find this to be a valuable and pleasing introduction to the world of motorcycling or a great way to involve yourself if you have not ridden for a while. Please note that classes are NON-REFUNDABLE and cancellations are addressed in the following cancellation policy.

Rider Education is based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s curriculum and is certified by the New Hampshire Rider Training Program. All instructors have successfully completed an extensive training program and take part in continuing training. Upon successful completion you will receive a MSF completion card that may qualify you for insurance discounts. Anyone who does not pass the written or riding tests will be allowed to retake the tests within 60 days at no charge. For training we typically use the Buell BlastÆ which is a small, American-made bike that was designed with features requested by educators.

ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE AND DO THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO CLASS:*

EQUIPMENT

  • Helmet: D.O.T. approved in good condition, eye protection (glasses, safety glasses, or goggles).
  • Clothing: Full-fingered gloves, long-sleeve shirt or jacket, and long pants that do not flare. Rain wear is suggested as classes will generally continue even if it rains.
  • Footwear: Footwear must cover the ankles – the ankle bone must be entirely covered. High heeled boots are not recommended. A flat or almost flat sole (hiking style boots) will make it easier to operate your motorcycle controls. Cowboy style boots are not allowed.
REFUNDS WILL NOT BE MADE TO STUDENTS WHO ARRIVE IMPROPERLY EQUIPPED FOR ANY REASON AND YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RIDE.

PRE-COURSE ASSIGNMENT

A welcome packet has been prepared for you and is available for you at Laconia Harley-Davidson. In this packet you will find two forms that require your signature, answers to frequently asked questions and the Basic Rider Course Handbook. Please read the handbook and answer the questions in the back of the book. All answers appear in chronological order as you read the book. Please bring the book, a pen, a highlighter and all your riding gear to your classes.

RIDER EDUCATION CANCELLATION POLICY

Since this is a physical activity, all students are required to sign a release of liability. This course, by nature, can expose students to heat, cold, and rain. Due to our ever changing climate we suggest that you pre-hydrate yourself prior to coming to class, drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your class. Sessions are postponed only if the instructor deems the conditions unsafe. Any student who feels that they may have a problem with the physical exertion necessary to safely operate a motorcycle should contact us in advance to discuss any limitations or concerns.

Once we have received your payment for your class, a firm booking has been made in that class for you. Class fees are not refundable. If you are scheduled for a class and fail to show up for any portion of your class, you will forfeit your entire tuition. Because each lesson builds upon the previous lesson, it is imperative that you arrive on time with the proper riding gear. If you are late for your class you will not be allowed to continue and you will forfeit your tuition. If you start the class and are unable to complete the class due to an injury sustained in your class, you will rescheduled into a future class once you provide a Physician’s documentation on original letterhead releasing you to participate in class. We realize that emergencies may arise and the Program Manager will handle these on a case-by-case basis. Rider Coaches are not allowed to reschedule you for another class or offer any refunds. Any refund requests must be made in writing. New Hampshire requires that you possess a valid drivers license to enroll in a class. Should we find that your license has been suspended for any reason you will be placed on standby status for a future class and you will not receive a refund.

We cannot guarantee your success in this class but will do everything that we can to set you up for success. If you are asked to discontinue the class due to safety reasons, please understand that the Rider Coaches have your safety as their primary concern. If this is the case on the following options are open to you:

BRC Classic Students Receive a one-hour private lesson w/ a Rider Coach at the current prevailing rate.

Following successful completion of the above you are eligible for a stand-by enrollment for the next available class that meets your schedule. Please visit the Rider Education Desk to obtain the stand-by schedule. You must complete your Private Lesson within thirty (30) calendar days of the start of your original class. Failure to do so will result in a forfeiture of your entire tuition and releases Laconia Harley-Davidson from any further obligation.
